Hilton Head Lowcountry Living

By on February 8, 2016

Are you thinking Hilton Head Island is only for vacationing once a year? WRONG! Although Hilton Head is one of the top vacation spots in the U.S., there is so much more to this charming town. Yes, we know that Hilton Head is well known for its 12 miles of beautiful beaches overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, luxurious ocean front resorts and villas and its relaxing, stress-free atmosphere, but that is not all there is to offer in South Carolina’s Lowcountry, or as some prefer Low Country!

Hilton Head Island may start out as an annual vacation destination, but for those who fall in love with the picturesque town, this vacation spot soon turns into their full-time residence. Hilton Head Island’s best kept secret is the post-vacation season beginning in September until the end of November and in the springtime before the end of the school year. With most of the tourists hitting the beaches with their families between Memorial Day and Labor Day, these fall and spring months are the sweet spot for locals. With perfect temperatures and little humidity, scarcely populated beaches and tons of festivals and outdoor activities, it is the best of Hilton Head living.

Residents of the Lowcountry always have plenty of activities to keep them busy. Many enjoy hitting up their favorite dining and drinking establishments and listening to the local musicians who frequent the venues. Those who love the outdoors spend their time fishing, kayaking, hiking or discovering the natural wildlife and foliage that inhabit the area. Sports fans will find plenty of opportunities to hit the tennis courts or experience one of the many golf courses in Hilton Head, including Sea Pines Resort, which hosts the PGA’s Heritage Golf Classic.

If the outdoor life is not really your style, don’t worry! Hilton Head has a vast arts and cultural community including museums, art galleries, theatrical and musical institutes, home and trail tours of the Lowcountry’s historical Gullah roots and tons of shopping in retail and specialty shops all over the area. Locals also love to participate in the many traditions and celebration festivals that are a big part of the community life in Hilton Head. With a year-round mild, sunny climate, a plethora of activities for the whole family, the lovely, tranquil setting of the beach and the calming sounds of the ocean waves at your doorstep, it is hard to have a bad day when you live on Hilton Head Island.

When planning your next trip to Hilton Head Island, consider the months of September, October, November, February, March and April. Also, plan on meeting with an experienced Hilton Head Island and Bluffton real estate agent to find your primary or vacation home on Hilton Head Island or Bluffton, South Carolina. Perhaps you are not quite ready to move to Hilton Head Island as a full-time resident, however now is a great time to purchase a Hilton Head Island area property as prices are still historically low. At the same time, long-term rental prices are historically high and there is much demand. Think about purchasing now and then rent the property until you are ready to move here full-time.
